Police Arrest Suspect in Park Avenue Burglary

The following arrest information was supplied by the Maplewood Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Maplewood police arrested a 17-year-old girl on Monday after an investigation of a burglary at a Park Avenue home led them to the girl. The girl had allegedly entered the home through a window, using an ice cooler to reach the window.

Police also responded to two other home burglaries this week. The full blotter, provided by Sgt. Dean Naddeo, is provided here:

January 12, 2012: Burglary. Officers responded to a Boyden Avenue apartment building on a burglary report. Unknown suspect(s) reportedly entered an unlocked basement window leading to a laundry room, where coin locks to two washing machines were broken and change removed.

January 14, 2012: Burglary. Officers responded to a Pierson Road residence on a report of a burglary. The homeowner reported that between 1:45 pm and 6:00 pm on Jan. 14, unknown suspect(s) entered through an unlocked door and removed a change jar containing approximately $200 in coins.

January 16, 2012: Burglary (Arrest Made). Officers responded to a Park Avenue residence after a female called 9-1-1 to report that while taking a shower, she heard noises and believed that someone was in her home. Upon investigating, she noticed an open window and an ice cooler placed outside below the window. Several officers arrived and conducted a building search which proved negative for any suspects. Other officers located witnesses who had observed a young female running away from the scene of the crime. Moments later, Officer R. Wright located a 17-year-old female walking on Prospect Street who matched the description provided by the witnesses. In the immediate area, officers also located objects that were being reported stolen during the burglary. Detectives A. Sally and L. Washington continued the investigation, and subsequently arrested the juvenile female on charges of Burglary and Theft.
