
This week, the Maplewood Police Department reported several incidents of stolen property.
One episode took place during the evening while the other three reportedly occurred overnight. Police officials are reminding residents to remove all valuables from vehicles and to lock their car doors, whether the car is parked in a driveway or in the street.

On August 18, a Boyden Avenue resident reported to police that two bicycles were stolen from the driveway of the home sometime near 8:30 pm. The two bikes, a Shogun BMX and a Jeep BMX, were left unlocked in the driveway for approximately 20 minutes and when the owners returned, the bikes were missing.
On Saturday, August 21 three cars were broken into overnight, according to reports made by three local residents. One owner reported that a car on Harding Street had been robbed of cash and radio components. Another car on Lexington Avenue was missing cash and personal papers and a third car on Menzel Avenue was missing money and a radio face plate. The owners of each car did not report any damage to the door locks.

Officers responded to the area of Parker Avenue and Hudson Avenue on August 18, on a report of a suspicious male wearing yellow football helmet and a red jersey. He was pushing a shopping cart in the middle of the street. Officers found David Pugh, 51, of Cummings St., Irvington. A computer check revealed an active warrant from the Essex County Sheriff's Office. Mr. Pugh was taken into custody and transported to the Essex County Jail.
Police reported that Sandy Lynn of Richelieu Terrace in Newark was stopped for speeding on Parker Avenue on August 20 and told officers that her driver's license was suspended. When police conducted a computer check they also found several outstanding warrants for Lynn from Newark and East Orange. Lynn received two summonses from Maplewood police and was turned over to Newark police on the outstanding warrants.
