Police Blotter: This Week in Theft

The following information was supplied by Sgt. Dean Naddeo of the Maplewood Police Department.

 

This week, a $60 dress, $109 cell phone, $14 in cash, a notebook computer and two cars reportedly went missing as two home-delivered packages were taken, two parked cars were entered and items removed (one of the cars was unlocked), and two cars left running in driveways were stolen.

Meanwhile, the Baker Street resident whose cell phone was stolen from a package on her doorstep got a good description of the alleged thief (see below).

Dec. 27, 2011: Theft from Auto. A Hackettstown resident reported someone entered her unlocked vehicle parked in a Madison Avenue driveway and removed a notebook computer and $10 in cash. The incident reportedly occurred between 8:00 p.m. on Dec. 13 and 9:04 a.m. on Dec. 14.

Dec. 27, 2011: Theft from Auto. An Orchard Road resident reported someone entered her parked vehicle and removed $4 in cash. The incident reportedly occurred between 11:00 p.m. on Dec. 23 and 11:59 a.m. on Dec. 24.

Dec. 27, 2011: Theft. A Girard Place resident said on Dec. 19 someone opened a package that had been delivered by UPS and removed a dress valued at $60.

Dec. 28, 2011: Auto Theft. A West Orange resident reported at approximately 7:58 a.m., someone stole a vehicle left running in a Valley Street driveway. The suspect, described as a black man with a beige hooded sweatshirt, then struck a parked vehicle, as well a wooden railing in the driveway, before fleeing south on Valley Street.

Dec. 28, 2011: Auto Theft. A South Pierson Road resident reported at approximately 8:15 a.m., someone stole his vehicle that had been left running in the driveway.

Dec. 29, 2011: Theft. A Baker Street resident said a cell phone was removed from a box delivered by UPS. According to the victim, at approximately 11:15 a.m., she heard her front doorbell ring. When she answered the door, she saw a woman attempting to place packing material into a box. The subject then fled in an unknown direction. Upon inspecting the package, the victim realized the T-Mobile Samsung Dart cell phone valued at $109 was missing from the package. The suspect is described as a thin woman, 5’4”, with medium brown hair.
