Police Make Arrests in Drug Possession and Robbery

The following arrest information was supplied by the Maplewood Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Maplewood Police made two arrests in the last week — one for possession of marijuana and one in relation to an August robbery in Maplecrest Park.

Maplewood Police Officer Peter Kuenzel made the first arrest on Sept. 16, at about 6:30 p.m. when he observed a teenager acting suspiciously in Memorial Park near Oakview Avenue. The 15-year-old boy was with a group of teens. When Kuenzel conducted an investigative stop, he found that the boy, a South Orange resident, was in possession of marijuana, a wooden pipe, and a tool used to grind the marijuana.  After being arrested and processed at Police Headquarters the boy was turned over to his father.

On Sept. 19, Erly Abrigo, age 20, of Union, N.J., turned himself in to Maplewood Police Detective Albert Sally after a warrant was issued for his arrest for his participation in the attempted robbery outside of Maplecrest Park on August 25. Abrigo was arrested and charged with attempted robbery. Deshawn Campbell, 21, of Millburn, was arrested and charged with the same on the night of the incident.
