Slain Essex County Teen Identified, 2nd Victim In Stable Condition: Police
Police pronounced the 17-year-old dead about 30 minutes after arriving on the scene.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Newark authorities have identified a 17-year-old male fatally shot on Friday as Malik Bullock.
Authorities said that the shooting took place shortly before 3 p.m. on the 400 block of Hawthorne Avenue. Officers found two males, both of whom were suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
Bullock, a Newark resident, was pronounced dead on the scene at 3:32 p.m., the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office stated.

Bullock was a junior at Barringer Academy of the Arts and Humanities, a family member told NJ.com.
A second victim, a 17-year-old Newark resident, was transported to an area hospital for treatment. As of Saturday, the 17-year-old was listed in “stable condition,” authorities said.

The name of the surviving victim is not being released for security reasons, Essex County prosecutors said.
An investigation into the shooting is ongoing, police said.
