Two Homes Burglarized in Maplewood This Week
Other reported crimes this week include a purse stolen from a car and an attempted auto break-in.

Two homes in Maplewood were broken into this week—one on Meadowbrook Place across the street from the community pool, the other in the College Hill section. Jewelry was taken from the Meadowbrook Place home after someone gained entry by breaking a pane of glass in a door; electronic games and equipment were taken from the other home after a thief or thieves came through a ground-floor bathroom window. One burglary happened during daytime hours, the other during evening hours.
The details of these and two additional crimes are detailed below in this week's police blotter which comes to us courtesy of Maplewood Police Captain Paul Conlon:
Sept. 29, 2010: Theft of a Purse- A woman shopper placed her purse on the front seat of her car while loading groceries from the shopping cart at the Extra Supermarket on Irvington Ave. When she returned to the car, she located a light skinned black male in the front seat of her car going through the contents of her purse. Realizing that the woman had returned, the man exited the car with the purse and fled the parking lot towards Clinton Avenue where he entered a tan colored ford Escort. The actor is described as approximately 6' tall, 175 lbs., wearing a white t-shirt with a blue strip down the sides, and blue jeans.
