The following information was supplied by the Maplewood Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Updated: The Maplewood Police have confirmed that the two teens taken into custody for allegedly robbing a Columbia High School student on Friday afternoon are residents of Irvington and are not students at CHS.
Two Irvington teens who robbed a student walking home from school on Friday were apprehended by Maplewood Police in Irvington later that same day, and the stolen items were recovered.
On Jan. 6, a CHS student reported he was walking home from Columbia High School, headed south on Prospect St. on the west side of the road at approximately 3 p.m. when another teen he didn't know tapped him on the shoulder from behind.

The teen asked, "What time is it?" The CHS student took his iPod out of his jacket pocket, and gave the time (3 p.m.). The other teen then grabbed the iPod and began pulling on the headphones. Another boy approached the victim from behind and told him to "let it go." After being threatened with a punch to the face, the victim released the headphones. He then felt the second attacker going through his left pants pocket. Ultimately, headphones, a black LG cell phone and between $57 and $60 dollars in cash were reportedly taken.
Soon afterwards, Maplewood Detectives Lenzo and Oakes stopped two teens fitting the description provided by the victim at the intersection of Clinton and Florence avenues in Irvington. The victim subsequently positively identified both suspects. The suspects also had in their possessions the stolen items. Both juvenile suspects were taken into custody.
