Woman Confronts Intruder in Kendal Avenue Home

No one was harmed in the incident, but the victim later found that her wallet had been taken from her purse.

Burglaries and thefts are the major items reported in this week's police blotter—aside from the large fight Wednesday night that was already reported last week. In other crime news, an attempt was made to steal a car, a locked-up bicycle was taken from the train station, a home on Hilton Avenue was burglarized, and a woman on Kendal Avenue confronted an intruder in her home, only to later discover that her wallet was missing from her purse.

Here, courtesy of MPD Captain Paul Conlon is this week's police blotter:

As officers arrived on scene a group of young men were engaged in a physical altercation in the middle of Jacoby St. Officers arrested five subjects, three adult males and two juveniles males, and charged them with Disorderly Conduct for their actions.  The adult males are identified as Daniel Exantus, 19, of Franklin Ave., Maplewood, Shareef Laing, 19, of Lehigh Ave., Newark, and Hakeem McKinney, 20, of Maple Ave., Irvington.  McKinney was also charged with Possession of Marijuana under 50 grams after officers found a small amount of the drug in the subject's pants pocket.  The juveniles, one 17 year old from Irvington and one 16 year old from Newark, were released to family members. The 17 year old juvenile suffered a minor laceration to his chest from the fight but did not require medical attention.  Detectives are still trying to determine the reason for the fighting.

The white male stated that he was looking for someone and then fled the house. After calling the Police, the victim discovered that her wallet had been removed from her purse. The man is described as a white male, 18 years of age, with short dark hair, and long side-burns. He is about 5'8" tall with a thin build, and was last seen wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans.
