Board Looks to Live Stream Meetings

The Marlboro Board of Ed will put meetings live online.

The Marlboro K-8 Board of Education is looking into equipment so they can live stream their meetings online for residents.

The estimated cost of the equipment is $5,000-$6,000 plus the cost of a laptop to control the streaming, but the board is looking to find an unused laptop with a large hard drive within the district to offset that cost.

The board called in a consultant to test different technology and placement of the camera, which will be a fixed camera with a shot of the board.

The technology will also allow the board to switch the view to the smart board in the room during presentations.

The audio will come directly from microphones set up in front of board members. The equipment will be tested for a few meetings before going live on the website.

The BOE is looking for a simple set up that is cost-effective.

Board President Michael Lilonsky at the Aug. 9 meeting said, “We want it cost-effective, but we also want to do it right and present ourselves correctly to the public.”
