Colts Neck Board of Ed Roundup
The Colts Neck BOE held its first meeting of the school year last night.

The Colts Neck Board of Education held its first meeting of the school year last night.
Board President Nancy LoCascio announced that last week, the board had welcomed new district superintendent Dr. Fredrik Oberkehr. He has signed his contract, but LoCascio said she does not know his start date yet. However, he will be attending two of the three back to school night events in the district.
Interim Superintendent Notes
Interim Superintendent John Paredes reported that on the first day of school in Colts Neck, a tree limb resting on a wire outside Conover Elementary School tripped a breaker and the school lost power.
Power was restored “just as the buses pulled up” he said.
Paredes also reported that the district had been audited by both the State and Federal Departments of Education. The district is waiting for the final reports on each.
The state audited the district’s extraordinary aid expenses, and the federal department audited the district as a routine to make sure the government is not over compensating districts with federal aid.
Finally, Paredes said the district replaced the water filtration system at Conover Primary School and Conover Elementary School with in-house services “at significant savings to the district.”
Child Assault Prevention Grants
Henry Rose, Director of Special Services, informed the board that the district received three grants for Child Assault and Prevention, which the district will use for child assault prevention and anti-bullying programs.
Training and program costs for teachers for child assault prevention will cost $5,481, the grant will cover $3,837.
Anti-bullying programs and training will cost $9,009, and the grant will pay $4,524.
Rose said he is hoping one more grant comes through for the programs, which will cover almost all costs.
The next Board of Education meeting is Sept. 21 at 7 p.m.
