FREE Camp for Young Kids to Learn the Spirit of Volunteering

The Kids’ Care Camp, an interactive program to instill a sense of volunteerism and community mindedness in young children ages 6 – 9, will host its first session on Saturday, December 7th, from 10 – 11:00 a.m. at Turtle Creek Learning Academy, 10 Railroad Avenue, Marlboro, NJ. To sign up, visit Kids' Care Camp on Facebook at www.facebook.com/kidscarecamp, or email lilykrietzberg@gmail.com, or call 732-972-1406. This program is offered for free. There will be four themed sessions, each consisting of three meetings. Class size is limited to 12 children per session and registration is first come, first serve. Please register by December 5th for the first session, Helping for the Holidays, which begins on December 5th.

The December session, Helping for the Holidays, will emphasize the importance of giving to others through practicing random acts of kindness. There will be a food drive for the duration of this session, and we will end with a tour of Freehold Open Door, 39 Throckmorton Street, Freehold, NJ. Children will also learn to not take things for granted and how the smallest of good deeds makes a large impact.

Subsequent sessions are Friendship (January), Peace, Love and Happiness (February), and Protecting the Environment (April). With these sessions come more hands-on activities, field trips, and perhaps even a visit or two from a guest speaker.

By being a Caring Kid, your child will be taught how to become an active member of the community. Your child can also gain a more charitable view of the world, and learn how to solve problems while benefitting the community.

Kids’ Care Camp has been developed and will be hosted by Lily Krietzberg, age 14. Lily is a freshman at Colts Neck High School in the Law and Public Service Program. Lily has been dedicated to volunteer service since she was seven years old as the creator of “Birthday Buddies,” a program that provided birthday parties to homeless children through a matching donor process.  She has served as the Teen Ambassador for the Food Bank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties’ Students Change Hunger program.

Finally, Lily was an active Girl Scout for many years, conducting numerous service projects for the community including an activity camp for children with special needs. She has developed a passion for giving back to the community and helping others whenever possible. “What better way to give back than to pass on my passion for volunteering to others?” said Krietzberg.
