$26,000 in Grants form Marlboro Education Foundation

The Marlboro BOE announced at its last meeting that the Marlboro Education Foundation approved $26,000 in grants.

The Marlboro Education Foundation approved 26 grants, totaling $26,000 for the 2011-2012 school year.

The announcement came at the Nov. 21 meeting. Grants come through donations and fundraisers for the foundation, and benefit Marlboro teachers and classrooms. One teacher can apply for up to $750, and a group of teachers can apply for grants up to $2,500.

Board of Education President Michael Lilonsky said, "It goes to all different areas, all different types of programs. It is a nice variety of projects."

A news release from the board said the money will be used to support projects that are not in the district's annual budget.

Members of the foundation, including Chairwoman Lisa Naboulsi and Secretary Lynn Franco were present at the meeting.
