MARLBORO TOWNSHIP, NJ — A Marlboro Twp. man won the $777,075 lottery jackpot in September, the state lottery announced last week, on Thursday, April 5. Patch reported last fall that the winner was sold at Gordon's Corner Liquors in Manalapan, but the identity of the winner has not been revealed until now.

Thomas M. (last name withheld for privacy) of Marlboro was one of three winners of the big prize, and they split it three ways. He won $259,025 before taxes.

The Marlboro resident told the lottery he actually doesn't usually play until the jackpots really start to climb. After purchasing a Quick Pick ten-board ticket for the Saturday, September 30 Jersey Cash 5 drawing, he missed watching the drawing but then decided to check his luck. When he pulled up the results, the first thing he noticed was that the jackpot was hit and had been reset, so he grabbed his ticket to go over each row.

It did not take Thomas long to confirm the win – his very first row matched all five of the numbers drawn earlier that evening. Thomas was one of three winners sharing the $777,075 jackpot.

Thomas said he plans to use the money to pay some bills and might buy himself a newer car. He will save the rest for his retirement. He purchased his ticket at Gordon’s Corner Liquors, 350 Rt. 9 north in Manalapan. In an unrelated incident, that same store was robbed this past January: Manalapan Liquor Store On Rt. 9 Robbed
