Marlboro: Serious Accident On Rt. 18 Monday Night; Woman Trapped

A 21-year-old Eatontown woman driving a Jeep Wrangler veered off Rt. 18 and hit a bridge. The car was on its side; she was trapped inside.

MARLBORO, NJ — A 21-year-old Eatontown woman was seriously injured in a car accident on Rt. 18 Monday, Sept. 9, said Marlboro Twp police.

At 9:39 p.m. on Monday, Marlboro police received a report of a motor vehicle accident on Rt. 18 north in the area of Tennent Road. Sgt. Andrew Del Cora located the vehicle, a white 2011 Jeep Wrangler. It ran off the road for an unknown reason, struck the bridge abutment for Tennent Road and came to rest on its side.

The driver, the Eatontown young woman, was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be extricated by emergency personnel. She was flown to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital via medical helicopter with serious injuries. Her identity is being withheld at this time pending notifications to her family.

Rt. 18 north was closed for several hours Monday night due to the accident.
