MHS Advances to Third Round of 'The Challenge'

Marlboro High School students are competing on "The Challenge," an MSG quiz show.

Marlboro High School students will take on Chatham High School in the third round of MSG Varsity's "The Challenge" on Cablevision channel 14.

The show will air Thursday, May. 1 at 6:30 p.m., and MHS will be represented by Angelina Lin, Eric Wang, Alexa Shea (captain), Matthew Herling and Nakul Patel (alternate). The academic advisors are Amanda Sousa and Margaret Dever.

“The intensity is rising as we enter the third round of “The Challenge”,” said Theresa Chillianis, MSG Varsity’s General Manager. “We couldn’t be happier with the level of competition displayed in the matches, not to mention the overwhelming support the teams have received from their schools and communities.”

The competition tests academic knowledge, including history, arts and literature, current events, math and science.

Jared Cotter is the host and moderator of the quiz show, a former semi-finalist from American Idol.

192 schools from the tri-state area will compete through elimination rounds, to crown regional champions who will win $2,500 for their high school. Each regional winner will enter a "Tri-State Showdown," where the winner will receive $10,000 and each student will receive $500 for participating in the final challenge.
