MHS Students To Compete on "The Challenge" Quiz Show

Marlboro High School students will compete on "The Challenge," an MSG quiz show.

students will take on Manasquan High School in the first round of MSG Varsity's "The Challenge" on Cablevision channel 14.

The show will air Thursday, Nov. 3 at 6:30 p.m., MHS will be represented by Angelina Lin, Eric Wang, Alexa Shea (captain), Matthew Herling and Nakul Patel (alternate). The academic advisors are Amanda Sousa and Margaret Dever.

The competition tests academic knowledge, including history, arts and literature, current events, math and science.

Jared Cotter is the host and moderator of the quiz show, a former semi-finalist from American Idol.

“Each season I am blown away by the students’ intelligence and their wide array of knowledge in so many diverse categories,” said Cotter in a news release. “I’m really excited to get the season started and to see which teams are going to bring it.”

192 schools from the tri-state area will compete through elimination rounds, to crown regional champions who will win $2,500 for their high school. Each regional winner will enter a "Tri-State Showdown," where the winner will receive $10,000 and each student will receive $500 for participating in the final challenge.
