Marlboro Students to Compete at Monmouth U.

Marlboro Middle School and the Solomon Schechter Day School have been chosen to participate in the Monmouth University Science Competition.

Monmouth University is gearing up for its second annual Stars Science Competition that will serve as a way for local middle school students to show their skills and help their teachers.

The competition will be held on Saturday, Dec. 3, from 9 a.m. to noon at Monmouth University in Edison Hall.

Eighteen teams from 13 local middle schools will compete for the $1,000 first prize, $800 second prize, and $600 third prize. The money will go to the teachers who lead the winning teams and will be used to buy science equipment and supplies for the teachers' classrooms.

Schools participating include Forrestdale School (Rumson), Hope Academy Charter School (Asbury Park), Howell Memorial Middle School, H. W. Mountz School (Spring Lake), Long Branch Middle School, Maple Place School (Oceanport), Markham Place School (Little Silver), , Mother Teresa Regional School (Atlantic Highlands), Red Bank Charter School, Red Bank Middle School, Solomon Schechter Day School (Marlboro), and the Township of Ocean Intermediate School. 

Members of the Monmouth University biology honor society, Beta Beta Beta, will be assisting with competition.

The Stars Science Competition is sponsored by NJ-based Telcordia, which provided the prize fund, Monmouth University, which provided the venue and support, and The Stars Challenge, a science enrichment program for top middle school students.
