Project Porchlight Flips the Switch

The Marlboro Green Team and the Teen Advisory Committee handed out 10,000 CFL lightbulbs to the community on Sunday.

In an effort to promote township-wide sustainabilty, the Marlboro Green Team and the Teen Advisory Committee teamed up to hand out thousands of compact flourescent lightbulbs.

According to a news release from Councilman  and green team co-chair Frank LaRocca, "CFL's use 75% less energy than incandescent light bulbs and last up to 10 times longer. For every bulb you swap in your home, you will cut greenhouse gas emissions and at the same time likely save up to $50 on your energy bill over the lifetime of the bulb."

About 200 teens, along with green team members and Council President Randi Marder, Deputy Mayor Larry Rosen and Mayor Jon Hornik, knocked on doors and handed out lightbulbs to almost every resident in Marlboro Township.
