Seniors Get Tech Savvy With the Help of Teens

The Teen Advisory Committee offered township seniors

Marlboro Township seniors showed up to the ready to learn, with iPads, Kindles, Nooks and cell phones in hand.

The held , where they sat in one-on-one sessions and answered any question they could. From buying e-books and returning e-mails to using Face Time and taking photos, the TAC tried to do it all.

And while seniors learned from teens, teens learned from seniors. Everyone came with a story, or even family photos to share during the lessons, allowing personal connections to be formed.

"The kids are so up on everything, they are very helpful and attentive," said resident Maxine Rosemen. "This was very productive."

The TAC also offers one-on-one training in homes, teaching seniors to use computers and program cell phones. Some seniors learn to shop online, keep in touch with family through e-mail, stay informed, or program speed dial numbers into cell phones.
