It was the largest paintball recreation facility in the state, and it was in Marlboro.
It is hard to remember a time when paintball guns were illegal, and many didn't know what it was or the safety of it all.
But in the late 1980's, just as state laws started to relax a little regarind paintball guns, a Holmdel Township resident Ray Gong had a dream, and it was to open a 120-acre paintball facility in .
Gong opened his facility, and was later shut down by the township due to zoning laws. He fought the Marlboro zoning board for use variances, of which he was denied, after which the zoning boards decision was overturned by the Monmouth County Superior Court. Marlboro Township won an appeal to the courts, and Gong ended up moving his business to Jackson Township.
