Service was suspended temporarily overnight after a train fatality in Monmouth County, according to NJ Transit.

The North Jersey Coast Line rail service has resumed between Matawan and Long Branch in both directions after a trespasser was struck near Hazlet, according to the agency.

The unidentified man was hit by a train at 9:40 p.m. The train was on its way from Long Branch to New York Penn Station near the Centerville Road crossing, according to NJ Transit.

The train left Long Branch at 9:12 p.m. The service was suspended for about 3 hours.

Seventy people were aboard the train, which was originally scheduled to arrive in New York at 10:49 p.m., according to NJ Transit. No one was injured on the train.
