Old Bridge Woman Dies In Icy Road Crash Wednesday, Police Say

She died Wednesday morning when her car collided with a garbage truck unable to stop on the ice, said Old Bridge Police.

OLD BRIDGE, NJ — Wednesday morning's icy road conditions appear to have claimed the life of a 59-year-old Old Bridge woman, who died Wednesday morning when her car collided with a garbage truck unable to stop on the ice, said police.

The Old Bridge woman who died has been identified as Anastasia Arthur.

The fatal accident happened at 5:35 a.m. Wednesday on Rt. 34 in Old Bridge: The woman, driving a gray Honda Accord, exited the parking lot of Future Pharmacy (near the intersection of Spring Hill Road) onto Rt. 34.

However, police say she pulled out directly in the path of a Solterra garbage truck, which was traveling south on Rt. 34, said acting Old Bridge Police Chief Joe Mandola.

The truck was unable to stop in time and collided with the Honda.

Arthur was pronounced at the scene. There were no other occupants of the Honda.

The driver of the garbage truck was not injured. At the time of this release, Rt. 34 remains closed for investigation.

Aberdeen Police warned of icy roads and multiple accidents Wednesday morning and begged drivers to be careful. Slick roads and patches of ice caused an incredible 33 fender benders in South Brunswick this morning. In Eatontown, six people were injured in a multi-car pile-up.
