All Of Chester Twp. Will Soon Have Access To Natural Gas, Mayor Says
The change could help residents save on heat bills in the future.
CHESTER, NJ — After years of complaints from residents and negotiations with gas companies, Chester Township officials have announced that the entire township will have access to natural gas soon.
According to Mayor Tim Drag, feedback from residents over recent years showed the desire for natural gas access throughout the township, specifically in the Pleasant Hill side of town.
Leading the charge was Councilman Joe DiPaolo. Drag said the township’s current provider, PSEG, had “no interest in expanding service to the area,” prompting DiPaolo to explore other avenues.

After DiPaolo’s “hard work and persistence,” the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities approved of New Jersey Natural Gas’s expansion into the Pleasant Hill side of Chester Township on Tuesday, Drag said.
“Stay tuned for more details, but this approval means our residents will soon have options—and the potential for significant savings on heating bills,” Drag said.
