Discolored, Smelly Water Issue Fixed in Mendham, But Residents Should Still Be Alert
High Manganese levels to blame for shutdown of treatment plant.

When residents began seeing and smelling discolored, odorous water in Mendham, it became quite apparent something was wrong.
The Southeast Morris County Municipal Utilities Authority ended up shutting down the Clyde Potts Water Treatment Plant when it learned there were higher than normal Manganese levels in the water, causing the smell and discoloration.
In the time since, the treatment plant has been put back in service and is operating at full production, the SMCMUA reported on its website.
