Dumped Dung Spurs DEP Violation for Chester Riding Club

Rt. 206 business covered two acres of wetlands with horse manure, reports say.

A Chester Township business has been put on notice by the Division of Environmental Protection to clean up acres’ worth of dumped horse manure or it will face fines – again.

Chester Riding Club has less than two weeks to clean up two acres’ worth of horse dung and wood chips in a wooded wetlands area near its property, nj.com reported.

The Club was fined $33,000 in 2013 for the same offense, the report said, and has yet to pay the fines due to financial issues.

The DEP inspected the property on May 28 and levied its notice to the business owners on June 15, giving them a July 10 deadline to have the manure removed, the report said.

The Riding Club’s 25 horse produce approximately 1,250 pounds of manure daily, the report said. The owners claim it costs $2,500 a month to properly remove the manure.
