No railroads now enter Chester, but in former times
the town had a busy and complicated rail network. This program will revisit the history of Chester's railroads and how their growth was influenced by the development of the 19th century iron industry. Our presenter,Larry Lowenthal, is a retired National Park Service historian who worked on historical studies and plans throughout the Northeast. He is the author of Chester's Iron Heyday, Iron Mine Railroads of Northern New Jersey, Morris County Traction Co. and several other books on railroads, canals, and the American Revolution. Co-sponsored by the Chester Historical Society. Register online at chesterlib.org.
