Local Heroes Benefit From Community Event

Re/Max Heritage Properties, through Run for Heroes, gives $6,000 to police, first aid squads.

While 92 participants took to the Chester streets in September for a fun walk and run, it was the community at large that benefitted the most.

Re/Max Heritage Properties, which opened its Main Street office a year ago, wanted to thank the community for welcoming the business with open arms.

Agent Tammy Abrusci, who coordinated the Run for Heroes Event, had the honor of handing over $6,000 in proceeds from the event to various local and state-wide organizations recently as a result of the race.

Proceeds from the Run for Heroes were evenly split between the Chester Township Police Department, Chester Borough Police Benevolence Association, Chester First Aid Squad, Chester Fire Department, and Operation Jersey Cares.

Each of the recipients were given checks in the amount of $1,500.

“There were (American) flags lining every street the participants were on,” Abrusci said about the event. “It was very patriotic.”

Officer Brian Gill of the Chester Township Police Department, Keith Anderson of the Chester PBA, Toby Drysdale of the Chester Fire Department, and Russi Champi of the First Aid Squad were on hand at the Re/Max office to accept the donations.

The agency is planning on making this an annual event to benefit local heroes.
