Macy's Demolished In Roxbury, New Shopping Center Coming
The new owners called the demolition the "first step in de-malling" the shopping center.

ROXBURY, NJ — The former Macy's in Roxbury was demolished to make way for the new, open air Shops at Ledgewood Commons. The Commons will replace the former Ledgewood Mall.
The Ledgewood Macy's closed in 2015, one of 14 stores Macy's closed nationwide that year. It marked a loss too big to overcome for Ledgewood Mall, which was sold shortly afterwards to Advance Realty and DeBartolo Development.
Calling the demolition the "first step in de-malling the existing Ledgewood Mall," officials for Advance Realty say they hope to provide a "diverse mix of shopping and dining" to residents.

“The demolition of this antiquated mall is an important first step in our plan to transform this prime commercial property into a place where locals can eat, shop and gather,” Advance Realty Founder and CEO Peter Cocoziello said in a statement. “We’re grateful and excited that Roxbury Township supports our vision for the property, and we look forward to taking the next steps in delivering a world-class shopping and dining destination to the community.”
The Shops at Ledgewood Commons are expected to have a mix of anchor, junior anchor, and pad site stores and restaurants.
