Mendham Dunkin Donuts Proposal Withdrawn, Could Be Resubmitted
Plans for the controversial coffee shop are apparently on hold for right now.

MENDHAM, NJ — A proposal to build a Dunkin Donuts in Mendham has been withdrawn, but is expected to be resubmitted later, a township official told Patch.
The controversial proposal to build a drive-thru Dunkin Donuts where the Marquis Restaurant used to be was pulled by Aryan @ Mendham LLC ahead of the anticipated Board of Adjustment meeting on Oct. 3. Because it was the only item on the agenda, the meeting was cancelled after the application was withdrawn.
An official in the Building Department told Patch they anticipate the proposal will be modified and resubmitted. She did not say why the proposal was withdrawn; representatives for Aryan @ Mendham LLC could not be reached for comment.

Aryan was looking to build a drive-thru Dunkin Donuts at 25 E Main Street, in the building that use to house Mariques Restaurant. Officials had anticipated the facade would remain the same, but locals voiced concerns over how the chain store would affect the character of the borough, and how the drive-thru would affect traffic in a busy section of town.
The proposal was first submitted in 2010, but fell through. Aryan submitted their proposal earlier this year; it was first discussed at a Feb. 27 meeting and confirmed by mayor Neil Henry shortly afterwards.

It would be the first Dunkin Donuts in the Mendhams; the closest location is currently on Route 206 in Chester.
