Mendham Players present SWEENEY TODD: March 16, 17, & 18th at 7 p.m.

After entertaining nearly sell-out crowds with last year's comedy The Drowsy Chaperone, West Morris Mendham High School's Mendham Players plan to take audience members by the throats this year with Stephen Sondheim's darkly funny tale of love and revenge: Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. Hauntingly beautiful songs that tell an unforgettable story made Sweeney Todd the hands down winner of the Best Musical and the Best Musical Score at the 1979 Tony Awards.

Victorian London is the setting for this musical thriller in which Sweeney Todd (returning after fifteen years of wrongful imprisonment) conspires with his baker friend Mrs. Lovett to take his revenge on the corrupt and disturbed Judge Turpin for causing the ruination of his beloved family. With just a little bit of hair tonic and quite a lot of mysteriously delicious meat pies, this year's show runs from March 16-18 at 7:00 p.m. at Mendham High School and is recommended for age 12 and older.
