Wall Street Journal Donating $10K To Family of Journalist Found in Passaic River
David Bird was missing for 14 months before he was found 1.5-miles from home.

Just days after authorities found the remains of David Bird in the Passaic River in Millington, the Wall Street Journal announced it would be donating $10,000 to the longtime reporter’s family trust.
According to jimromenesko.com, a memo to Wall Street Journal staff on Monday from editor-in-chief Gerard Baker announced the donation along with funeral arrangements.
Bird, an energy reporter for Dow Jones and the Wall Street Journal for more than 20 years, went missing on Jan. 11, 2014. It wasn’t until Wednesday, March 18, 2015, when two men canoeing in the river found a red jacket belonging to Bird stuck on some branches. The two called police immediately, and Bird’s remains were found shortly thereafter. In total, Bird was found approximately 1.5-miles away from his home.
