Yes, Christie Spent $82,000 At NFL Games. No, We Don't Know What He Bought
Receipts for governor's purchases at Giants and Jets home games during the 2010 and 2011 seasons are reportedly missing.

Gov. Chris Christie may have spent $82,000 spent at NFL games, but we may never know what he bought.
Receipts for governor’s purchases at Giants and Jets home games during the 2010 and 2011 seasons are apparently missing from 597 pages of receipts the New Jersey Watchdog website obtained through an Open Public Records Act request, according to the site.
Indeed, the governor’s office does not have documentation for more than $247,000 he spent out of his expense allowance. That’s two-thirds of the $360,000 Christie has spent from his allowance since he took office in 2010, according to a New Jersey Watchdog analysis.

The report comes from a website that is part of a national chain called Watchdog.org, which targets government spending, waste and corruption. The New Jersey site is operated by prominent investigative journalist Mark Lagerkvist, a former special projects reporter at The Asbury Park Press who also worked at CNBC.

Heather Taylor, the governor’s records custodian and chief ethics officer, told New Jersey Watchdog:
“We have produced to you all of the receipts/invoices/bills that we located ... We are not withholding any records based on an OPRA exemption.”
Other news organizations have speculated on how Christie could have used the funds from his expense allowance of up to $95,000 a year. He also receives a $175,000 annual salary.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch calculated the governor could have bought 7,455 hot dog and beer combos at MetLife Stadium, compared to 9,371 beer-and-hot dog meals at the Rams’ home field in the St. Louis area.
Newsweek calculated Christie’s NFL concessions would be enough to buy 13,755 hot dogs or 6,882 brisket sandwiches, or 16,518 12-ounce cans of beer.
The New Jersey Republican State Committee reimbursed the state three years ago for Christie’s concession purchases at MetLife, and the governor has stopped using his expense account at such sporting venues.
The governor’s spending practices and gift-taking practices have come under fire before. In 2012, Sheldon G. Adelson, the billionaire casino owner and supporter of Israel, lent Christie his private plane so the governor could go on a trade mission to Israel, according to The New York Times.
New Jersey Watchdog is suing Christie in Mercer County Superior Court to compel the governor to release the Amex records of his charges.
