2 Meetings In Middletown Next Tuesday On Raritan Bay Flood Project

This will be a presentation from the U.S. Army Corps. of Engineers on their proposed project to prevent future flooding:

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and NJ Department of Environmental Protection will be discussing their Raritan Bay and Sandy Hook Bay Coastal Storm Risk Management Feasibility Study at a series of public meetings next week:

  • Two different meetings in Middletown Tuesday, May 23: The first from 2-4 p.m. and the second from 6-8 p.m., both at the Middletown Town Hall Courtroom (1 Kings Highway)
  • Two meetings in Aberdeen: Wednesday, May 24th from 2-4 p.m. at the Aberdeen Town Hall Courtroom (1 Aberdeen Square) and a second one 6-8 p.m. at the Cliffwood Beach Community Center
  • One meeting in Keyport: From 6-8 p.m. May 24 at the Fiorendo Sigismondi Community Center (651 Prospect Avenue, Keyport)

All of these meetings will be the same presentation from the NJ DEP and Army Corps. of Engineers regarding their proposed plan on how to prevent future flooding along Raritan Bay.

The state and federal government says they want to gather public feedback on the critical infrastructure, transportation and evacuation routes that are at risk due to the effects of coastal storms in the study area. Public input is appreciated. Light refreshments will be served.

These meetings will also serve as National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) public scoping meetings, as they are also gathering public input for the Environmental Assessment under preparation that will assess impacts of the proposed project.
