$6.28 For Gas In Middletown? It's For The Adam Driver Netflix Show That's Filming There

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — Don't do a double take if you see the sign on Rt. 35 in Middletown selling gas for $6.28/gallon. And that's not a real gas station, either.

As we reported in January, a TV series is currently being filmed at the former Circus Liquors/Calico the Evil Clown property on Rt. 35 in Middletown. The parking lot was transformed to resemble a gas station, but it's not operational. It's a fake gas station, and NJ101.5 has photos. They are advertising gas for $6.28/gallon and diesel for $7.20.

What's filming there is a Netflix crime series starring Adam Drive. It's called "Rabbit, Rabbit" and filming has actually not started yet; it's supposed to start the week of March 22.

In the past month, film crews built that fake gas station. Driver plays a truck driver who kidnaps people, and he uses that gas station as his base. Expect a lot of filming to take place there over the next few months, starting next week, and Driver will be on site at the gas station.

They will be filming there through late June. Filming will take place from March 16 - June 26.

Here are just a few of the movies that have filmed in Middletown and the Red Bank area in the past two years:

• Kerry Washington will film her next Netflix series in Middletown; filming is expected to start in April 2026. Filming will mostly be done in the area of Navesink River Road, Middletown's wealthiest section. The series also stars James Marsden, who plays Washington's husband, and Chloe East.
• "The Last Mrs. Parrish" was the most recent movie to film in Middletown; it filmed over several weeks in October 2025. The movie stars Jennifer Lopez and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (you know him as Jaime Lannister on "Game of Thrones") and yes, Jennifer Lopez was in Middletown last October for the movie shoot. Lopez was also spotted dining at Birravino, the Italian wine bar/beer hall in Red Bank. Filming took place along Navesink River Road, McClees Road and Sailors Way last fall.
• The Bruce Springsteen biopic "Deliver Me From Nowhere," although that movie mostly filmed in Asbury Park and Freehold borough.
• The Bob Dylan biopic "A Complete Unknown," which filmed at Bahrs waterfront restaurant in Highlands, and at the Count Basie theater in Red Bank in the spring of 2024.
• "Mean Girls: The Musical," which filmed in 2023 on the old Mater Dei Catholic high school campus. The Mater Dei high school building has since been torn down, and is now a public park, Mater Dei Park.
