• Middletown Schools Face Closures Without State Bailout as Money Flows into Districts Like Newark, Lakewood (shorenewsnetwork.com) — Middletown school officials say no state bailout is coming, so they’re moving ahead with closing Leonardo and Navesink elementary schools, cutting about 40 jobs, and raising school taxes roughly 3% to close a $3.2 million deficit. The 2026–27 plan would reshuffle students to other buildings, convert Bayshore into an elementary school, and follows last year’s steep tax hike that only temporarily delayed these cuts.    

• Patriot League Announces M-F Athletic Outdoor Track and Field Weekly Honors (4.14.26) (patriotleague.org) — A standout Army West Point thrower hails from Middletown, N.J., where senior Robby Manse earned honorable mention after winning the hammer throw and placing second in shot put at the Star Meet. The Patriot League also recognized several Navy, Boston University, Bucknell, Lafayette, and Holy Cross athletes and confirmed its outdoor championship meet will be held in mid-May at Navy’s Ingram Field in Annapolis.
