Atlantic Highlands Municipal Harbor Bulkhead To Be Entirely Replaced
Atlantic Highlands will receive $2.1 million in federal money to replace the bulkhead later this year.
ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ — The bulkhead at Atlantic Highlands municipal harbor will be entirely replaced this year, the town announced.
Atlantic Highlands will receive $2.1 million in federal money to repair the bulkhead — and replace it where needed — said Congressman Frank Pallone, the Democratic congressman who represents this area. Pallone said he helped secure the $2.1 million for the project in a Homeland Security appropriations funding bill.
The current bulkhead is deteriorating, according to Atlantic Highlands Mayor Loretta Gluckstein.

She called the bulkhead a "critical" piece of infrastructure for residents and businesses along the public marina, helping to protect the area from flooding and stabilizing the shoreline.
“The borough of Atlantic Highlands is extremely appreciative of Congressman Pallone’s assistance in submitting applications for funding through the appropriations bill,” said Gluckstein. “In particular, the application and request for $2.1 million dollars for the municipal harbor bulkhead repair would assist the borough of Atlantic Highlands and the municipal harbor for years to come."

"The Atlantic Highlands municipal harbor is the largest municipally-owned harbor from Maine to Florida and is essential to the greater NY metro area," she added.
Congress is expected to vote on the bill in the coming months.
