Coronavirus Cases Now At Fairview, Harmony Elementary Schools

This comes the same week as a positive case at Thorne Middle School, and another at Middletown High School North.

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — The coronavirus case count continues to climb in Middletown public schools: Someone at Fairview Elementary and at Harmony Elementary have now tested positive for COVID-19, the district announced Wednesday.

Also this week, there is a positive case at Thorne Middle School, and another at Middletown High School North.

However, none of the affected schools are pivoting to virtual; all the schools will continue their hybrid schedules, with students in the building a few days a week. Contact tracing has been done and the buildings are being disinfected, said the district.

Middletown schools appear to still be on track to return to five days a week, on-campus instruction on December 14.

County-wide, Monmouth County reported 109 new COVID cases on Thursday and two new deaths.

Where are the new cases? As of Oct. 29, the towns with the most new cases are: 15 new cases in Middletown, 10 in Freehold boro and Township, 10 in Wall, eight in Aberdeen, seven in West Long Branch, seven in Howell, seven in Long Branch, seven in Manalapan, six in Eatontown, five in Hazlet, five in Colts Neck, five in Tinton Falls, four in Brielle, three in Holmdel and three in Keansburg.

  • Thorne Middle School (3 cases)
  • New Monmouth Elementary (2 cases)
  • River Plaza Elementary (1 case)
  • Nut Swamp (several cases)
  • Fairview Elementary (1 case)
  • Harmony (1 case)
  • Middletown High School South football team (1 case) The case originated off school grounds; the team kept practicing.
