While he was at South, Lovato was an all-conference lineman for the MHSS Eagles. In college, he went on to become an FCS All-American long-snapper at Old Dominion, where he played in all 50 games during his 2011-2014 college career. He is the son of Rick and Maureen Lovato, and has two sisters, Michelle and Jacqueline.

The Eagles are now the fourth NFL team Lovato's played for: He was originally signed by the Chicago Bears as an undrafted free agent after college. He then went to the Green Bay Packers, then played two games for the Washington Redskins before being signed by the Eagles.

He was an integral part of the Eagles' Super Bowl-winning 2017 team and helped them defeat the New England Patriots on February 4, bringing the city of Philadelphia it’s first Lombardi trophy in history.
