The Middletown South football team did not take the easy route to victory on Friday night.
The Eagles (5-2) rallied for two scores in the final four minutes of the game and beat Brick Memorial 24-21 in a nondivisional Shore Conference football game, according to the Shore Sports Network.
Quarterback Matt Mosquera connected with receiver Tom Coffey for a 33-yard touchdown to tie the game at 14, then Mosquera and Coffey combined to set up the 3-yard touchdown run that James McCarthy scored to tie the game again at 21.

McCarthy then forced a fumble and recovered the ball to give the Eagles the chance they needed. Mosquera, who’s also the Eagles’ kicker, finished it off with a 22-yard field goal with 1.8 seconds left for the victory.
Now the Eagles get some needed rest with a bye next weekend before they host Freehold on Nov. 7. That game is at 7 p.m.
