Girls donate 100 baby blankets to Solutions Pregnancy Center

Girl Scouts Silver award project provides donation of 100 baby blankets, diapers, wipes and a monetary gift to Solutions Pregnancy Center

Hannah Luisi and Jillian Haase, both of Middletown, chose to do their Silver Award Girl Scout project to help Solutions Pregnancy Center in Shrewsbury. The girls collected donations from family and friends to make 100 baby blankets for Solutions to give to the moms and their babies there. Hannah and Jillian worked with Bonnie Quintero, who runs the iMPact girls program at Monmouth Worship Center in Marlboro, to teach the iMPact girls, who meet there on Friday nights, to cut and tie the baby blankets. The iMPact girls and the Marriage and Family ministry at the church also ran a diaper and baby wipes drive for Solutions. The bulk of the project was done in January in honor of Sanctity of Life Month. On Friday, February 9, Hannah, Jillian and the iMPact girls held a “baby shower” for Solutions where they presented the Director of Solutions, Leigh-Ann Bellew, with the 100 baby blankets, 100 packs of baby wipes, over 50 packs of diapers and a generous monetary donation for the center to purchase Love Boxes from Embrace Grace for the moms and their babies. The Love Box is often the first celebratory gift of encouragement that the moms receive during what can sometimes be a very difficult situation.
