WATCH: As 'Bridgegate' Investigation Continues, Christie Sets Presidential Announcement Timeline

Gov. Chris Christie announced on the Tonight Show Wednesday night his plans for announcing whether he'll run for president.

As New Jersey awaits word from the U.S. Attorney’s Office on possible indictments in the “Bridgegate” scandal, Gov. Christie made an announcement of his own on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday.

Christie plans to announce his decision on running for president “by May or June,” he told Fallon during the broadcast on Wednesday night.

Christie made the announcement despite news that as many as eight people could be indicted soon in the notorious Fort Lee traffic jam in September 2013 that was reportedly ordered by aides of Christie, according to any number of news sources, from NBC News to The New York Times to Esquire Magazine.

Private talks with sources close to the investigation confirm those reports, and some have suggested that Christie is also awaiting cleardot.gifthe results of the investigation before making a decision.

Christie seemed undeterred by the controversy, noting that if he doesn’t run for president, “I got a day job as everybody knows.”

Christie, who is revered and loathed for his aggressive style, told Fallon that he doesn’t plan to change his style if he does run for the Republican nomination for president.

“There’s only one Chris Christie,” he told Fallon. “I’m not going to be somebody different.”

Few expect Christie himself to face charges himself. But if the indictments do come, they’d likely name former staffers thought to be behind the scandal, according to politickernj.com.

Those ex-staffers could include: former Christie aide Bridget Kelly, former Port Authority official David Wildstein and former Port Authority deputy director Bill Baroni, according to the report.

Former Port Authority Chairman David Samson could also be named, amplified by his recent decision to step down from his longtime-post as co-founder of the politically-connected law firm Wolff & Samson, according to the report. Samson’s firm also said it was changing its name.
