Jon Stewart Bringing Horse Abused With Paintballs To N.J. Sanctuary
The former "Daily Show" host has adopted an abandoned Pennsylvania horse who had been shot by more than a hundred paintballs.

Jon Stewart may be funny but he also has a big heart.
The comedian and former "Daily Show" host adopted a Pennsylvania horse who had been shot by more than a hundred paintballs at close range in March. Stewart and his wife, Tracey, own an animal sanctuary in Middletown Township, N.J.
The Lancaster County SPCA said the comedian has adopted Lily, a 20-year-old Arabian/Appaloosa pony mix who made headlines in March due to the horrid abuse she endured after being neglected.

Lily was brutally shot by hundreds of paintballs at the New Holland Sales Stable in Lancaster County after being abandoned. She was in "excruciating pain" due to the abuse, according to information from the Lancaster County SPCA.
Lily's right eye was surgically removed, and her left eye was treated for a large ulcer. Although Lily is now permanently blind in her right eye, still has some sight in her left eye.

She was released from the hospital in April and at that time was expected to make a full recovery.
"This gentle pony endured excruciating pain as she was shot dozens upon dozens of times with high-velocity balls of paint," PETA Cruelty Casework Director Stephanie Bell said last month. "PETA is urging anyone with information about this cruel act to come forward immediately, before the culprit or culprits decide to use anyone else as target practice."
Doctors added that Lily does not appear to have any major systemic problems due to the abuse.
