Keansburg Man Had 1,000+ Child Sex Abuse Images, Prosecutor Says

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children discovered he was storing the photos on a cloud server, said the Monmouth prosecutor.

KEANSBURG, NJ — A Keansburg man was indicted for being in possession of more than 1,000 items of child sexual abuse materials, Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Lori Linskey announced Friday.

Jose G. Veras, 33, is charged with one count of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child via possession of child sexual abuse material.

County prosecutors say the crimes that took place on various dates between July 2019 and February 2020.

The Monmouth County Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, led by the prosecutor's office, said it first got a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

That center monitors online activity throughout America, specifically looking for child porn and sexual photos and videos of children.

The tip said that Veras was using a cloud storage application to store child sexual abuse material. The investigation further revealed that Veras had the material saved on various electronic devices in his home, said the county prosecutor.

The Monmouth County ICAC Task Force includes members of the following police departments: Bradley Beach, Eatontown, Howell, Long Branch, Manalapan, Marlboro, Middletown, Neptune Township, Spring Lake, Spring Lake Heights, Tinton Falls, Keyport, Keansburg, Belmar, Holmdel and Red Bank.
