Middletown Family Pharmacy, Bayshore Pharmacy Have Booster Shots

Starting Monday, Bayshore Pharmacy will host vaccine clinics to give out boosters of the Pfizer vaccine.

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — While most COVID vaccines are still only given out at government-run sites or large chain pharmacies such as CVS, two local Middletown pharmacies have the vaccines in stock and are preparing to give out booster shots to those who want them.

Bayshore Pharmacy Cards & Gifts in Atlantic Highlands and Middletown Family Pharmacy in Belford have boosters of the Pfizer shot.

Starting the week of Monday, Sept. 27 Bayshore Pharmacy will host vaccine clinics for anyone who got the first two doses of Pfizer at least six months ago.

“The Covid-19 vaccine has shown outstanding results, and there will surely be an unprecedented demand for the booster shots," according to Brian Harris, Pharm.D of Middletown Family Pharmacy. “We ask for everyone’s patience as we continue our vaccinations throughout the fall.”

These pharmacies gave out the Moderna, Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson vaccine throughout this past spring and summer.

According to the New Jersey Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), here is who should get the booster shot, at least six months after they got the first two shots:

  • People 65 years and older and residents in long-term care settings should receive a booster shot
  • People age 50–64 years with these underlying medical conditions should receive a booster shot
  • People age 18–49 years with these underlying medical conditions may receive a booster shot, based on their individual benefits and risk
  • People aged 18-64 years who are at increased risk for COVID-19 exposure and transmission because of occupational or institutional settings, including healthcare workers, may receive a booster shot, based on their individual benefits and risks.

Like the first shot, the vaccine booster is given at no cost.
