Middletown, Bayshore Family Pharmacies Do Thanksgiving Food Drive

BELFORD, NJ — Middletown Family Pharmacy of Belford and Bayshore Pharmacy of Atlantic Highlands are both hosting a November food drive this week until Saturday, November 20.

All the food collected will be donated to Middletown Helps Its Own. A donation box is available at the pharmacy and monetary donations are accepted.

Middletown Helps Its Own is a non-profit, all-volunteer local organization providing emergency services and food to our community during the holiday season and beyond.

“The need for donations is so great this year and Middletown Family Pharmacy supports our neighbors, friends and community during these difficult times," said Brian Harris, PharmD, the owner of Middletown Family Pharmacy and a longtime resident of Middletown. "Stop by with a donation and say hello!”

The food collected at Bayshore Pharmacy will go to the food pantry located at the United Methodist Church in Atlantic Highlands.

“The need for donations is so great at the moment because the food pantry has seen an increase in the number of families needing assistance," said longtime pantry volunteer Helen Marchetti. "We rely on the generosity of neighbors to help families in need. Food drives sponsored by local businesses like Bayshore Pharmacy provide a boost for our shelves and raises awareness of the need for this pantry in our community.”

The food pantry is especially low on: Canned Soups (Progessive Soup) Peanut Butter, Shampoo/ Conditioner, Soap, Small Laundry Detergents, Dish Detergents and Cleaning supplies.

"Bayshore Pharmacy has sponsored a food pantry drive for many years," said Richard P. Stryker, owner of Bayshore Pharmacy. "We are happy to do our part to support our community during the holiday season since hunger has no season."

The United Methodist Church of Atlantic Highlands hosts the Food Pantry for the Area Association of Community Churches and is located at 96 Third Avenue, Atlantic Highlands. (732) 291-0485. The food pantry is located in the church basement and is currently open on Thursdays with hours from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm and 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm. The food pantry serves the immediate area from Sea Bright to Port Monmouth.
