MIDDLETOWN, NJ — The Middletown Historical Society hosts John Zinn Nov. 16 as he presents on the origins of baseball in the Garden State. This will be a virtual lecture; it is free to attend, but requires registration at https://www.MiddletownNJHistory.org.
Learn about the pioneers and players of this sport that grew into a national passion. Zinn is the final speaker in Middletown Historical Society's 2020 Speaker Series.
Zinn is an independent historian with special interest in the history of baseball. He is the chairman of the board of the New Jersey Historical Society and was the chair of New Jersey's Committee on the Sesquicentennial of the Civil War. John is the author of five books including three about the Brooklyn Dodgers, as well as numerous essays and articles. He also writes a blog on baseball history entitled A Manly Pastime.

His biography of Charles Ebbets was awarded the 2018 Ron Gabriel Award for the best book about the Brooklyn Dodgers. John holds BA and MBA degrees from Rutgers University and is a Vietnam veteran.
