Several members of this team were on the 12-and-under team that made it to the Little League World Series in 2018, including "Big Al" Delia, the Middletown kid who became an Internet celebrity that summer when he was interviewed by Jimmy Kimmel and told him "My name's Big Al and I hit dingers."

Because some of these boys have been playing together for years, "The camaraderie is very close on this team," Alfred Delia's mother, Angela Delia, told Patch Monday. "All of them are so great with each other; they are very supportive of each other. If one player is feeling down, the others are always there to boost them up."

"They are a great hitting team all around and they don't seem nervous (for Tuesday night)," she added. "They seem like they are just ready to do what they have to do."

The Middletown senior team won their division by beating Lincroft and then beating Tinton Falls twice. They then beat Sayrewoods in Old Bridge and Howell Central twice to win the Section 3 title championship last week.

They will now seek to bring a state championship title back to Middletown Tuesday night. The game is at 8 p.m. at Par-Troy Little League fields in Parsippany. It has not yet been announced who they will play; it will either be Bergenfield or Clifton, said Delia.

Also, the Lincroft 11U Little League team won their District 19 championship last week and will play their next game Tuesday night.

And the Lincroft girls' softball Majors team (10-12) (undefeated) won their District 19 tournament last week, defeating Tinton Falls 15-2. They have now advanced to the Section 3 tournament round, which takes place this week.
