Middletown's Newest Wawa, Gas Station Opens At 8 A.M. Friday

Free coffee all day and Wally the Goose will be there Friday. Middletown Police, Old Village firefighters will do a hoagie-building contest:

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — We already told you Middletown's newest Wawa will open this Friday, Dec. 8, located at 1230 Rt. 35 south at New Monmouth Road (site of the old Middletown Friendly's).

Now, here's some new information on Friday's grand opening:

Middletown residents are invited at 7:45 a.m. Friday to join general manager Kristyne Bartz, who will do the honors of counting down the moment when the doors open at 8:00 a.m. for the very first time. This is a new Wawa with a gas station.

At 8:30 a.m. there will be a ribbon cutting with Wawa’s mascot Wally the Goose, oversized scissors, red ribbon, confetti and fanfare.

All day Friday, customers will get free coffee. The first 100 customers through the door will receive a limited-edition “Wawa Coffee, Hoagies & Kindness” t-shirts, while supplies last.

Also on Friday Wawa's signature Hoagies-for-Heroes competition will take place right after the ribbon cutting, at 8:45 a.m.: Police and firefighters from the Middletown Police Department and Old Village Fire Company will compete to see who can build the most hoagies in three minutes. Wawa will present checks for $1,000 to each department’s charity of choice.

This is actually Middletown's second Wawa. There has been a Wawa on Rt. 36 in the Leonardo section for several years now.
