Mike 'The Situation' Sorrentino Says He May Run For NJ Governor
Sorrentino owns a drug/alcohol rehab center in Tinton Falls. He said he'd like to have one in every state, and he may run for governor.
TINTON FALLS, NJ — Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino teased last week that he may one day run for governor of New Jersey.
Sorrentino made the remark last Thursday, at a launch party for Vue magazine, held in Wall Township. Sorrentino was on the cover of the magazine.
Last November, Sorrentino opened the Archangel Center, his first-ever drug and alcohol rehab center, in Tinton Falls. He plans to open another location in East Windsor. At the magazine launch party last week, he said he hopes to one day have an Archangel rehab center in every U.S. state.

"I’d like to have an Archangels center in every 50 states [sic], and after that, you know, I will introduce everybody to Governor Situation,” said Sorrentino, according to News 12.
News 12 reporter Lauren Due asked him what party he would run with, Republican or Democrat.

"I can't announce that yet, but I think the residents of New Jersey would like no property tax," Sorrentino replied. Watch News 12's interview last week in Wall Township.
Sorrentino, who grew up nearby in Manalapan, found fame as an original cast member on MTV's "Jersey Shore," which featured a life of drinking, tanning, partying and promiscuous sex among young people living in a rental summer beach house in Seaside Heights. After the show, he was found guilty of tax evasion and spent eight months in federal prison for failing to pay taxes on $8.9 million, much of which was money he made on the show and the fame he found afterwards.
Sorrentino was born on Staten Island, and he graduated from Manalapan High School. His family used to own a tanning salon in Middletown, called the Boca Tanning Club, but it closed down and owed months of unpaid rent, Patch previously reported.
Sorrentino also owned Boca Tanning Club in Manalapan, but that also has since closed.
In 2015, Sorrentino agreed to pay about $32,000 in back rent for the Middletown location, but he missed the deadline for the payment of the first installment, and a warrant of removal was posted on the front door of the salon, NJ.com reported at the time. That same year, Sorrentino was also arrested at the salon and charged with simple assault after he got into a dispute with his brother over how the business was being run, NJ.com also reported.
2015 was the year Sorrentino became sober from drugs and alcohol. The Archangel Center is located at 44 Apple Street in Tinton Falls and he opened it in November. Its ribbon cutting was attended by some of Sorreninto's original Jersey Shore castmates, including Snooki, Jenny "J-Woww" Farley and others, plus Monmouth County state Sen. Vin Gopal (D).
Sorrentino co-founded the Archangel Center with his wife, Lauren Sorrentino. The Archangel Center also offers mental health counseling.
"Many years ago I vowed that one day I would have the strength and resources to help those that are still suffering from the disease of addiction like I once was and here we are," Sorrentino said at the center's opening last November.
