Oak Hill Academy Sixth Grader Heads to National Spelling Bee

Best of Luck to Aron Wiener (Loch Arbor), as he heads to Washington, D.C. on Sunday to compete in the Scripps National Spelling Bee on Wednesday, May 28.  You can watch it live on ESPN3.

Back on March 18, this Oak Hill Academy sixth grader spelled "Arcus", which means a a dense, horizontal, roll-shaped cloud, to win the Scripps Regional Spelldown at Monmouth University.  He survived 97 finalists to take home the title.

This is the second time, Oak Hill Academy has claimed a Regional Champion in this prestigious competition.  In 1999, Richard Tapnio won and finished 3rd Nationally.

Congratulations to Aron in D.C.  We all wish you much S-U-C-C-E-S-S!
Thank you also to 5th grade English teacher, Mrs. Beth O'Connor who organizes the annual spelldown at Oak Hill Academy.
